Founded in 2011 in Wichita, Kansas, LAB 1 Design is a contract design source led by seasoned industrial designer Jake Hillard, who has had the good fortune to work with top professionals in the product development field. By being imaginative, persistent and mixing art, business and design, Jake has helped businesses expand into new categories and create future concepts and business models. He is the recipient of numerous design and utility patents.

In 2016, LAB 1 Design moved its business operations to Plainville, Kansas, so that Jake, his wife, and their three young boys could be closer to family.
